BMW 7 Series and i7 Launched in India: Price, Features and Specs
BMW has launched the facelifted 7 Series and i7 in India, bringing sharper styling, a completely updated cabin and more technology to its flagship sedan range. The new lineup also brings a bigger battery and longer claimed range for the electric i7, while the performance-focused i7 M70 xDrive joins the India range.
Prices start at Rs 1.95 crore (ex-showroom) for both the BMW 740 and i7 eDrive50. The range-topping i7 M70 xDrive costs Rs 2.65 crore.

The BMW 740 and i7 eDrive50 are locally assembled in India, while the high-performance i7 M70 xDrive comes to India as a completely built-up unit. BMW has also started local production of the i7 at its Chennai plant, making India only the second country after Germany to manufacture the electric flagship.
What is new on the 2026 BMW 7 Series and i7?
The facelift does not change the basic shape of the 7 Series, but the details are noticeably different. The front gets a redesigned illuminated kidney grille, new crystal headlights and a cleaner bumper, giving the sedan a more modern look inspired by BMW’s newer design language.
The rear also gets slimmer lighting and a redesigned bumper, while new wheels add another visual change. The overall result is still recognizably a 7 Series, but the facelift gives the flagship a more contemporary appearance.
The cabin gets a major technology upgrade
The biggest changes are inside. BMW has redesigned the dashboard around its new Panoramic iDrive system and BMW Operating System X, bringing a more digital layout to the flagship sedan.
The cabin gets a 17.9-inch central display along with a 14.6-inch passenger screen. BMW Panoramic Vision also projects information across the width of the windscreen, while a 3D Head-Up Display provides additional information for the driver.
Rear-seat passengers continue to get the kind of equipment expected from a flagship luxury sedan. The highlight is the 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen, accompanied by Executive Lounge seats that can recline by up to 43 degrees and a Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system.

BMW 740 gets a 400hp petrol engine
The India-spec BMW 740 continues with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine. It produces 400hp and 540Nm and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph.
For Indian buyers, the important point is that BMW has kept a petrol-powered flagship alongside the fully electric i7, giving customers a choice between conventional power and an EV without moving to a different luxury segment.
BMW i7 gets a bigger battery and more range
The i7 receives one of the most significant mechanical upgrades with a new 112.5kWh battery pack. The i7 eDrive50 produces 455hp and 660Nm, with a claimed WLTP range of up to 728km.
It can accelerate from 0-100kmph in around 5.5 seconds. The larger battery therefore brings a substantial improvement in range compared with the outgoing model, making the i7 eDrive50 a more practical long-distance luxury EV.
BMW i7 M70 xDrive is the performance flagship
At the top of the range sits the BMW i7 M70 xDrive. Its dual electric motors produce 680hp, while torque can reach 1,100Nm when Launch Control or Sport Boost is used.
The M70 can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 3.8 seconds and has a claimed WLTP range of 686km. It also supports up to 250kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in around 28 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

What features and safety technology do you get?
The new 7 Series and i7 pack a long list of comfort, convenience and driver-assistance features. Highlights include electrically adjustable seats, heating, ventilation and massage functions, four-zone climate control, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and BMW’s advanced parking assistance technology.
The cars also get features such as Parking Assistant Professional, remote parking using a smartphone and Reversing Assistant Professional. The i7 additionally gets Driving Assistant Plus with functions including active cruise control, steering and lane-control assistance and blind-spot monitoring.
