Mahindra Thar OG Launched at Rs 10.32 Lakh: Price, Specs and Features
Mahindra Thar OG has been launched, the updated three-door version of its Thar SUV, with an introductory price of Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2026.
The update goes well beyond styling. The Thar OG moves to Mahindra’s M_Glyde 4G platform, gets revised suspension and steering, more powerful 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, an electronic locking differential and additional safety equipment.

Mahindra Thar OG Price and Variants
The Thar OG range starts with the AXT 1.5-litre diesel manual RWD at Rs 10.32 lakh. The LXT and ZXT trims add the larger engines, automatic transmission and 4WD options, with the range going up to Rs 18.99 lakh for the ZXT 2.0-litre turbo-petrol 4WD automatic.

New Platform and Suspension for Mahindra Thar OG Launched
The biggest mechanical change is underneath. The Thar OG uses Mahindra’s fourth-generation M_Glyde 4G platform, shared with the Thar Roxx, with a stiffer structure and a rear Pentalink suspension featuring a Watt’s Link.
Mahindra has also added DAVINCI Damping Technology with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD). The system is intended to improve ride quality by adapting damping response to road inputs, while electric power steering replaces the previous hydraulic setup.

More Power and New Off-Road Hardware
The 1.5-litre diesel continues with 87.2kW and 300Nm, while the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel rises to 111.9kW and 330Nm. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol now produces 119kW and 330Nm. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions continue across the range depending on engine and variant.
The 4WD versions add an Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) and selectable Mud, Sand and Snow terrain modes. Mahindra also offers terrain assist on selected RWD versions, making the mechanical changes relevant beyond the dedicated 4WD variants.
Exterior Gets a Familiar but Updated Look
The Thar OG retains the familiar three-door silhouette but receives a new grille, circular LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, LED ice-cube fog lamps with cornering function, revised bumpers and LED tail lamps. Higher variants get new R19 alloy wheels, while the vehicle also has a wider track.
Two new colours, Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, join Battleship Grey, Deep Forest, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Stealth Black and Tango Red.

Cabin and Safety Upgrades
Inside, the Thar OG gets Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery and a soft second-row armrest with cupholders. Higher trims also add features such as a 26.03cm touchscreen, wireless charging, rear-view camera, cruise control and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Safety equipment varies by trim. The top ZXT gets six airbags, including four HPTS airbags, along with front parking sensors, all-disc brakes, TPMS and an enhanced ESP 9.3 system. The base AXT continues with dual airbags and front-disc/rear-drum brakes.
What the Mahindra Thar OG Launched Actually Changes
The important part of the Thar OG update is that Mahindra has not treated it as another cosmetic facelift. The new platform, rear suspension, FDD damping, EPS, ELD and revised engines change the mechanical package, while the new safety and cabin equipment address everyday usability.
For buyers considering the three-door Thar in 2026, the Thar OG therefore represents a substantially reworked version of the model rather than simply a new badge and styling update.
