Samsung One UI 9 Update: Galaxy S25 FE, S25 Edge Status and New Features

Samsung’s One UI 9 Update, based on Android 17, is now entering its wider rollout phase. The update first arrived on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, followed by the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. Samsung has said the update will gradually reach more Galaxy devices.

Samsung One UI 9 Update Brings More Context-Aware Galaxy Features

One UI 9 focuses on reducing the number of steps needed for everyday tasks. Now Nudge can surface context-aware suggestions, such as bringing up reservation information or saving a location shared during a conversation. Creative Studio can also suggest image-generation ideas based on upcoming events.

Samsung has also added My FanCam, which automatically keeps a selected person centred in compatible recorded videos. Now Brief gains new Generative and Editable Cards, allowing users to customise some of the information shown in their daily summaries.

Interpreter, Document Scan and Voice Recorder Get Updates

The updated Interpreter adds Thread View, making it easier to refer back to earlier parts of translated conversations. Samsung also says Conversation Mode translation is faster, while compatible Galaxy Buds can provide quicker translated playback.

Document Scan can now handle more difficult material, including curved book pages and papers with folded corners, with less manual adjustment. Voice Recorder has also been updated to present summaries in a more structured format, including headings and tables.

Samsung One UI 9 Update Adds New Security and Privacy Tools

Samsung is also using One UI 9 to make security information easier to understand. Security Brief brings alerts involving malware, apps from unknown sources and unnecessary permissions into Now Brief, giving users a central place to review potential issues.

Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts by apps to access permissions in the background. Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to additional markets and languages, with India specifically listed among the supported markets.

Galaxy S25 FE and S25 Edge Update Status

The important distinction for S25-series owners is between One UI 9 eligibility and actual stable availability. Samsung officially included the Galaxy S25 FE in its September beta programme, while its latest stable-rollout announcement says the update will expand gradually to other Galaxy devices.

For the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung’s latest public rollout announcement does not give a specific stable-release date. Owners should therefore check the software-update screen on their individual device rather than assume that a reported rollout date applies to every country or carrier.

How to Check for One UI 9

Open Settings → Software update → Download and install on your Galaxy phone. If the update is not shown yet, Samsung notes that update schedules and supported functions can vary by model, country and network operator.
