OTT Releases This Week, Aug 31-Sep 6: Gandhari, Dhamaal 4 & More

The first week of September brings a packed OTT Releases schedule, with new movies, returning series and documentaries arriving across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV and Apple TV. From Taapsee Pannu’s revenge thriller Gandhari to the return of The Gentlemen, the lineup covers crime, comedy, courtroom drama, psychological thrillers and action.

Gandhari – Netflix

Taapsee Pannu leads Gandhari, a revenge-driven action thriller about a mother searching for her missing daughter. Bani’s life takes a devastating turn after her child disappears, setting her on a dangerous path as she tries to uncover what happened.

The search eventually takes Bani towards a child-trafficking network operating in Joypurra. The film also stars Ishwak Singh, Chhaya Kadam, Swastika Mukherjee, Mita Vashisht and Jatin Sarna, with Devashish Makhija directing the film. Netflix has confirmed its September 3 premiere.

The Gentlemen Season 2 – Netflix

Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen returns for its second season, with Theo James reprising his role as Eddie Horniman. After discovering that his inherited estate was connected to a large cannabis operation, Eddie found himself pulled into a criminal world he never expected to enter.

The new season takes the story further as Eddie and Susie Glass look to expand their business beyond Britain. Their ambitions bring new enemies and complications, while the show’s combination of crime, dark humour and aristocratic intrigue remains at the centre of the story. The Dhamaal gang is back for another treasure hunt, this time with a new adventure that turns an apparently simple search into complete chaos. Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi return as the franchise’s familiar comic ensemble.

The treasure hunt takes the characters into a race involving a legendary fortune, a scattered map and competing groups looking to get their hands on the prize. The film is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on September 4, making it one of the week’s major Hindi OTT releases.

Mayday – Apple TV

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh headline Mayday, an action-comedy built around an unlikely partnership. Reynolds plays US Navy pilot Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly, who becomes stranded behind enemy lines after a secret Cold War mission goes wrong.

His best chance of survival comes through Nikolai Ustinov, a former KGB agent played by Branagh. Despite their opposing backgrounds, the two have to cooperate to escape the situation, setting up a mix of action, survival and humour. The film arrives on Apple TV on September 4.

The Court – JioHotstar

The Court brings a courtroom drama to JioHotstar, following Yazhini, a young lawyer who is determined to establish herself despite living in the shadow of her highly accomplished father. Her professional challenge becomes deeply personal when a major case puts the two on opposite sides.

The Tamil series combines courtroom conflict with a family relationship under pressure. As Yazhini takes on a difficult legal battle, she must overcome her own insecurities while proving that she can stand on her own as a lawyer. The series is scheduled to stream from September 4.

Jagamae Sangeetham – Prime Video

Prime Video’s Jagamae Sangeetham is a Telugu musical drama set in the temple town of Vaikuntapuram. The story centres on Balu, a young Carnatic music talent carrying the expectations of a family with a long musical legacy.

His world changes after he encounters Kavitha, a pop singer whose approach to music is very different from his own. Their relationship creates a conflict between tradition, personal ambition and the freedom to follow a different artistic path. The eight-episode series arrives on Prime Video on September 4.

Unmadham – SonyLIV

Unmadham brings a psychological mystery to SonyLIV, with Kunchacko Boban leading the cast. The story follows a police officer who temporarily steps away from the force to pursue his ambition of becoming a filmmaker, only to become involved in an unusual case.
