Apple MacBook Pro Availability in India
Apple opened pre-orders for the new MacBook Pro on October 28 through its online store and Apple Store app. The company has announced November 9 as the availability date in India, when the laptops will begin reaching customers and authorised retail stores.
Customers can choose between Silver and Space Black finishes. The new models are also available with optional nano-texture glass, which is intended to reduce reflections and glare.
PROLED XDR Display: Apple Brings Tandem OLED to MacBook Pro
The biggest hardware change is the new PROLED XDR display, which uses tandem OLED technology. Unlike the previous MacBook Pro display technology, the new panel combines OLED layers to deliver high brightness, deeper blacks and improved contrast.
The 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch displays offer up to 2,000 nits peak brightness and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. They also support P3 and Adobe RGB colour gamuts, making the display relevant for photographers, video editors and other professionals who need accurate colour reproduction.
ProMotion provides adaptive refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz, balancing smooth movement with power efficiency. An optional nano-texture finish further reduces reflections in bright working environments.

Touchscreen Support Comes to Mac
For the first time, MacBook Pro users can interact directly with the display using touch gestures. They can scroll through webpages, pinch to zoom, rotate objects, draw on the screen and move content between windows.
Apple has integrated the touch sensor directly into the display panel rather than placing it as a separate layer on top. The company says this approach reduces latency and makes interactions feel more direct.
The touchscreen is intended to complement the keyboard, trackpad and existing macOS interface rather than replace them. It also gives creative professionals new ways to work with design applications, 3D models and music software.
Dynamic Island Arrives on Mac
Apple has brought Dynamic Island to Mac for the first time. Similar to its role on the iPhone, it provides a compact space for notifications, activities and quick interactions.
On the MacBook Pro, Dynamic Island works with Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. Users can check updates, manage music, respond to certain notifications and interact with supported activities without interrupting their current work.

M5 Pro and M5 Max: Performance and AI Capabilities
The new MacBook Pro is powered by Apple’s M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. Both chips feature an updated CPU and GPU architecture, with Neural Accelerators integrated into GPU cores to support demanding graphics and AI workloads.
The M5 Pro is aimed at developers, engineers, researchers and creative professionals handling tasks such as software development, video editing and local AI processing. The M5 Max targets heavier workloads, including 3D rendering, visual effects, large AI models and high-resolution video production.
Both processors support up to 128GB of unified memory, depending on configuration. The M5 Max models also offer higher memory bandwidth and more GPU resources for demanding professional applications.
Memory and Storage Options
Apple offers up to 128GB of unified memory on the new MacBook Pro. Storage configurations vary by processor:
- M5 Pro: 1TB, 2TB or 4TB SSD.
- M5 Max: 2TB, 4TB, 8TB or 16TB SSD.
The higher storage options are particularly relevant for professionals working with large video projects, extensive media libraries and local AI models.

Audio, Camera and Connectivity
The new MacBook Pro features an enhanced six-speaker audio system that delivers 50% deeper bass than the previous generation. It supports Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos, while studio-quality microphones are intended to improve voice recordings and video calls.
Apple has also included a 12MP Center Stage camera, which keeps users in the frame during video calls. Desk View provides an additional view of the workspace when sharing demonstrations or presentations.
Connectivity options include:
- Three Thunderbolt 5 ports
- HDMI port
- SDXC card slot
- MagSafe charging
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6
- Touch ID
The M5 Pro configuration supports up to three external displays, while M5 Max supports up to four, in addition to the built-in display.

macOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The new MacBook Pro runs macOS 27, also known as macOS 27 Golden Gate. The operating system has been updated to support the new touch interface and Dynamic Island.
Apple has also introduced Siri AI, with more conversational interactions and the ability to use personal context across supported apps. Apple Intelligence features are integrated into the operating system to assist with writing, information retrieval and everyday tasks.
Siri can also work with information displayed on the screen and help users complete supported actions across applications. Apple says these capabilities are built with privacy protections.
Battery Life and Fast Charging
Apple claims up to 24 hours of battery life for the new MacBook Pro, although actual usage will depend on the model, workload and configuration. The thinner design also makes the latest models lighter than their predecessors.
The laptop supports fast charging, allowing the battery to reach up to 50% in approximately 30 minutes when used with a suitable power adapter and charging setup.
What Makes the New MacBook Pro Different?
The touchscreen is the headline change, but the upgrade extends beyond touch support. The tandem OLED display, Dynamic Island, M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, larger storage options and improved audio system collectively make this a significant redesign of Apple’s professional laptop.
For existing MacBook Pro users, the biggest reasons to consider upgrading are the new display, touch-based workflows and additional performance for demanding applications. Those using an older Mac primarily for browsing, office work and everyday tasks may not need all the new professional capabilities.
