Vi Voice-Only Plans Launched in India Starting at ₹179

Vodafone Idea has introduced four new Vi voice-only prepaid recharge plans in India, starting at ₹179. The plans offer unlimited voice calls and SMS without bundled mobile data, giving subscribers an option to avoid paying for internet benefits they may not need.

The new recharges come with validity periods ranging from 25 days to one calendar month. They follow the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) push for more affordable voice-and-SMS-only options across shorter recharge cycles.

Vi Voice-Only Recharge Plans: Price, Benefits and Validity

Vi’s four plans are priced at ₹179, ₹185, ₹203 and ₹206. All include unlimited voice calling and 300 SMS, while the ₹179 recharge also bundles access to the Vi Movies & TV app.

₹18528 daysUnlimited calls, 300 SMS
₹20330 daysUnlimited calls, 300 SMS
₹206One calendar monthUnlimited calls, 300 SMS

The ₹179 plan is the cheapest option and includes local, STD and national roaming calls. The ₹185 recharge extends validity to 28 days, while the ₹203 option covers 30 days.

The ₹206 plan follows a calendar-month cycle rather than a fixed 28 or 30 days. This means its validity generally runs until the corresponding date in the following month, with the last day applying when that date does not exist.

Why Has Vi Introduced Voice-Only Plans?

The new recharges follow TRAI’s Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2026, released on September 22. The regulator asked telecom operators to provide separate voice-and-SMS vouchers corresponding to shorter validity periods, a calendar-month cycle and at least one longer validity option.

The move aims to give consumers more affordable choices, particularly people who mainly use their phones for calls and messages. It could benefit feature-phone users, senior citizens, customers with secondary SIM cards and subscribers who access the internet primarily through Wi-Fi.

Airtel has also introduced shorter-duration voice-only plans priced at ₹185, ₹203 and ₹206. Jio’s existing voice-and-SMS options include longer-validity recharges, although its shorter-duration offerings remain a separate area to watch.

Where Can You Recharge Vi’s New Plans?

The new plans are listed on Vi’s prepaid recharge website. Customers can search for the recharge amount or check the available voice-only options through the Vi app.

Plan availability and applicable benefits can vary by telecom circle. Check the details displayed for your number before making a payment. These recharges do not include bundled mobile data, so subscribers who need internet access on the move will require a separate data pack or another suitable recharge.
